Civic wins 12 Hour Race (Beats Lamborghini, Porsche GT3, ..)

After months of hard work, a 2004 Civic 2.0 litre 4-Door, won the MME 12-Hour, beating 71 other teams with Lamborghinis, Porsche GT3s, Lotus Exige, Integras, etc.

thats pretty cool even considering that the rule makers for races try to make things as fair as possible

It's about the car as a whole; how easy it is to drive, how smooth and consistent the car is, and yes, how good the fuel economy is. One of the Civic's major advantage is the MME sporting rule that mandates a driver change after every 75 minutes. From what I understand, the HMRT Civics were pitting mostly according to this 75 minutes interval ruling but many of its competitors had to pit ealier simply because they were running out of fuel!
