i have a 1998 ext cab 4.3l auto. 150k all maintenance done. 4700.00. check your bulb. it probably cross shorted inside the bulb and it is activating other circuits.

Make sure you have the right bulb also.

You are low on blinker fluid. ;)

Check for blown bulbs.

check the brake light switch. it might have shorted internally. do you have a wiring diagram? you need a wiring diagram to chase down this cross short.

first off, when your hazards are on and you hit the brakes, the lights are going to stay on, they are supposed to. They do that on all cars.
You could try this, it worked on my g/fs dakota. Find the little noise maker for the turn signals. Make sure that its in all the way, or maybe take it out and clean the prongs. That was all it took to fix my girlfriend's truck's same problem. If not, then I dunno man.

You could always try blazerlt's suggestion, and check your blinker fluid. Its right next to the washer fluid for your rear window.

Also, the hazards are on another clicker than the standard signals.

Sounds to me like the stem switch. There is only one wire from the brake light switch to the flasher switch. When you activate either right or left, the side you activate is removed from the brake light switch and the flasher circuit is activated. The four way circuit is essentially in parallel to the stem and it doesnot remove the brake light switch from the circuit upon activation, that is why the stop light switch will lock up the 4 way's.

You need to troubleshoot a little, remove the 4 way switch (unplug it). If the problem goes away, replace the 4 way switch. If it doesn't, replace the stem switch.
