1988 Model question

My aunt bought a 1988 Chevie Camaro convertible fresh off the showroom floor back in it's birthyear, she's talked about maybe passing it down as a family heirloom to me when i'm old enough/financially secure enough to pay the insurance one it. Well I was doing some research on it, I figured i'd check and see if she'd ever wrecked it or anything, so I went to CARFAX.com and entered the VIN number, it listed the engine type as 5.0L V8 TPI HO OHV. I know what a 5.0L is, but I don't know however what TPI HO OHV means, so could someone please shed some light on this for me?

TPI is tuned port injection.. Its the type of fuel injection.. The best system they used in the third gens.. HO means High Output.. The engine has more power than the regular 5.0 and OHV just means Over head valves

Does the car have an automatic or does it have a manual transmission??? If it has a 5 spd then it is a HO motor and it made about 20 more than the same engine with the automatic transmission. It should move pretty well if its got the 5 spd.

Here's some stats for the model:

If it's auto, it came with 195 hp and 295 torque
If it's 5 speed, it came with 220 hp and 290 torque

No matter what engine, it's pretty rare, with only 3,761 made that year.

It's an automatic, even though it hasn't been driven much in the past couple years, my Great-Uncle Steve said the damn thing still moves like crazy, always has

I've always thought that, i've never seen an 80's Camaro Convertible like it other than this one. It's really special, I'm in love with the car. Like I said above, it's an automatic, hell of alotta torque.

3761 isnt really considered rare. Either way its a nice car. Mines an automatic too and it goes real good!!
