Progress: '98 Saleen Mustang

Well here is some progress pics of the Saleen Speedster I started this past friday. The kit is Revell, not a bad kit with minimal clean-up!! The color will be a Cobalt blue with black int. The kit will mainly be built box stock.

It looks as though the body sits over the motor in the pics, maybe once the interior is installed, the body will sit correct. If not, maybe some sort of cowl-induction style hood!!

I have been eyeing that kit all this year but with 16 kits in progress I'll probably get it next week! LOL! Looks good. On blue either do smoke or clear tailings with some chome on the bezel.

Modeler's ADD strikes again...this reminds me I have a resin coupe conversion for this model, and I really should get it done for the ACME show... :rolleyes:

having built this kit my experience is that the engine being too high is, like you said, because the interior tub is not in. Once in and everything is together I thought my build up sit a little too high over the wheels. Even though mine is complete I'm still considering lowering it.

ZoomZoom that would be a nice addition for the ACME show.... I may bring mine too.

Can't wait to see it! My resin coupe body is by Scale Coachworks, seems to be rather hard to find, I got it at a show in Toledo.

Many Revell modern muscle cars like the Mustangs and Trans Ams/Camaros all seem to ride too high, they all need a good lowering job to look right.

Being that I have already assembled the chassis, I think I will leave it for now. Will have the interior done today and post pics soon! My paint is coming through the dealership that I work at, so hopefully it will be there Tuesday!! Thanks for the comments!!!!!

It's going to look good in the color you've chosen. The chassis doesn't sit all that high. It has a better stance than a lot of kits.... Lookinf forward to seeing it painted.

Well Eric, now that you have said that, I will not woory about the ride height!! I was just in my room looking at the cassis to see what could be done!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!

Thats not lowered yet is it? Is that the stock ride height? I was thinking of maybe taking the motor out? I do not know yet!!!!!!!!!!!

I look forward to your build. I've got one waiting in line. ALthough mine will be white with black stripes and built mainly from the box. Looking good!

No it hasn't been lowered yet.... but I think it will be soon...
instead of taking the engine out you might be able to adjust where the wheels mount to the chassis, thus droping the whole car instead of just droping the body.

Cool project, I have this model as well. I was thinking about starting on it, but decided to build a Supra model instead. Keep us up to date!

Well, I got some paint on it yesterday!! I am not pleased with the color, It is a little too dark for what I was looking for!! It does not resemble Cobalt Blue at all IMHO!! Let me know what you think?!?

see my biggest problem with this kit when i built it was that the side skirts are a lot lower thank the front bumper and rear bumper. so even when the car is really lowered it still looks high from dead on. kinda goofy looking, so u have to give it an agressive racked stance.
