Hi, I need to see why my power lock remote does not open the drivers side door, it appears to try it but the inside lever does not move all the way , so the door does not open. All other doors open fine when I press the remote twice, any suggestions on what my problem could be or instructions on how to take the inside door panel off.
Thanks

Does it unlock properly when you use the door switch??

I suspect your answer will be "no". What you probably have is a bumper problem. More specifically, the door latch assembly and the power lock actuator are connected with a rod with a little rubber bumper at the end. In time, the rubber deteriorates and unlocking becomes a problem. The repair kit is available through GM dealers and is pretty cheap from what I understand. Fortunately I have not had to do this procedure.

Just going from memory, there are 3 screws and several push-in retainers to remove the door panel. One screw is behind the small trim piece that the power mirror switch is located (or would be if not equipped) and the other 2 are behind the white door light. Be careful then prying the lens off cause it's brittle. The push-in retainers are around the perimeter of the door panel. It's helpful to have a "J tool" or similar to pry out without damaging the retainers of the door panel.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give it a try and take a look.

Ok, I got the door panel off and I think you are right, the rod never seems to fully extract when you press the power door open, although, I can't see where this bumper is. I follow the rod to the end of the door but, it's all blocked from there. This is not an easy thing to replace? I guess I will live with it.

You need to remove the latch assembly and actuator to replace... I think. I'll send you a pic of the assemblies via PM so you can get an idea of what the problem is.
