91 Explorer Speedometer Cable Replacement

I've just aquired a 1991 Explorer with a worn out clutch. I'll replace the clutch this week end, but my problem is the speedo doesn't work. I suspect a broken speedo cable, but my Chiltons doesn't have anything about how to replace the cable (at least that I can find).

Anyone familiar with this? Does the cable slide out from the speedo end, or the trans end?
