hey i have a question and would like to see everyones opinion. i have a 92 acura integra 1.8L dohc non-vtec. i've been debating on the option of swaping engines or rebuilding my engine for some time. my engine currently has around 150k miles on it. i have dc sport headers, crowers cams, ractive intake and straight pipe exhaust. most of da work was done by my cuzin who previously own it. Now im da owner and my spark plugs just burned out. im bout to give it a tune up but i decided to get sum info on whether i should rebuild or swap. i'll swap for a b18 of course but dis will mean i'll have to sell all parts i currently have cuz dey wont fit da b series engine. Should i rebuild or swap. money is a question but not to much of a factor i'll work day and night to enhance my car. would love any input u guys could give me.

first question is how much money are you willing to put into it? and if you will notice a b series engine is a b16, b18, b20. now there are codes after that, such as a b16a, b18a, b20b. now you can put any of these engines in your car. you cannot put a k series engine in your car.like a k20, only b series. well unless you want to do some serious converting. like i used to have a b18a1 in my car, now i have a b20b in it. these are all the same engines just with different bores. then the heads that come on them might be alittle different. like i can take a b16 head and put it on my b20 block, with alittle conversion. honda engines are like lego's. it all boiles down to how much you would like to spend. i spent about $1k on my swap and i did it myself. so, how much is in your wallet? i personally would swap your engine with a b20b or b20z, and stick a b16 vtec head on it. :2cents:

does the b20b conversion cost more than say a lsvtec with a b16a head?Did you just change the head or did you change the whole engine?

i just changed the engine. i plan on turboing it later and adding vtec will make me have to boost it lower. and alot more can go wrong with a vtec conversion with turbo. but yes an vtec conversion with my swap would cost about $1,500 to $2,000. depending if you do it yourself. i found my engine for $700. and a few extra parts for another $200.

you do know that you already have a b18a right. the 1.8L Dohc N-Vtec is a b18a or b in the newer ones. so basically you might wanna just do a rebuild and have a new engine or just do a good ls/vtec if you wanted.
oh and ifyou don't believe look on your block the engine code will be stamped towards the left just under the head.

so....an ls vtec would be a WHOLE lot cheaper than a crvtec like he is explaining....becuase all you need is a b18C head or a b16 head

i don't think the b20vtec combo will be cheaper. unless you can just find the b20 block and the b16 head. i know of a guy here that is doing this combo and he is expecting some serious hp. but if he just keeps his block and gets a b16 head the, yea it will eb cheaper. well depending on how much the head is and is he planning on putting the b16 head on the b20 block? but 93weed_eater is right.
