Volkswagen Golf

A friend of mine asked me to build him a replica of his first (and actual) car, the VW Golf IV. It's the petrol engined 1.4. Very basic, very simple. So I sourced a Tamiya Golf V5 from eBay, which costed a small fortune..

I started by modifying the dash, by removing the GPS screen and adding the radio and the small storage space above it. Still has to be painted and finished.

On to the body. Removed the V5 mounting spot on the front grille and prep'd as usual. Painted TS-40 Metallic Black with 2 coats of TS-13 Clear. Polished, but not waxed yet (have to say it's my best paintjob so far..eheheh). Apart from the windows wipers and antenna, the body is finished.

And this picture is just to show off the mirror-like shine :naughty:

it's looking very, evry cool!

Only one little remark is that you could clean up the smudges left by the clear glue around the rear lights with just some water on a cotton cloth...

Otherwise, you should be very happy with the result !

Thank you all for your nice comments!

I don't have a digicam to show you the progress right now, but I think I'll be able to post some over the next two weeks.

Thanks for looking.

Ok, here I am with another update.
The chassis is almost finished. Quite basic assembly and painting. Just threw it all together, a quit spray of X18 and voilá. The exhaust was modified to a single outlet and painted XF16, as was the engine (covered by that protection plate). All that is missing are the brake discs.

I'm waiting for the interior and front seats to dry before I mask it up and spray the other tone of grey, as per the instructions.

And finally, I finished all the bits and pieces.

All that is left to do is finish modifying the wheels, print a radio decal and glue it all together. Maybe by wednesday I'll be able to make a completed thread :)

Thanks for looking.
Pedro.
