Hello
I bought a 91 tt a couple months ago for 1600 bux in need of an engine........well another 1700 bux for the motor and its running great......I installed myself so no labor cost well 15 hours or so.............As I was looking though the car I found in the glove compartment an ECU chip......The numbers on it are......t080zfmj........it was in an anti static holder and a piece of tape acrossed it has 601100 written on it...... Any of these numbers mean anything to anyone? Is this the stock chip ?
Any quick tips on tweaks on a stock motor that dont involve buying pricey parts?..........I have a cone filter,..I have seen that,,,,,,,and steel braided brake lines and stillen rotors.......112.000 mile car that sat for 4 years,,,,,,,Pretty damn clean.......And fast,,,,,,,,buries the speedo with no prob,,,,,,,,outruns my vette,,,,
Thanks peeps.......

Everything is 'pricey' for these cars... bets bets for checking out bolt-ons is stillen.com I think... jimwolftechnology.com has some too... but a little pricey...
As for the chip...? You should probably poke your nose through TT.net or 300zxclub.com, for there is where the masters lurk...

If you have access to a reliable, trustworthy shop you could tweak the stock timing a bit, say from 15 stock to a mild 17 degrees. And as its a turbo car and the exhaust system is so important, adding some down pipes, test pipes or probably what should be first, a cat back system. And if you ever find out what type of chip you have, then that will tell you what your going to need as far as an ECU, perhaps your current one is an upgrade, perhaps its stock. Anyway that will give you your average Stage 3 Z32. Which is: Intake, ECU, and cat back. That will make upwards of 320 rwhp. Total cost for you since you already have an intake and possibly the ECU, is just the cat back. The Borla system is excellant in sound, appearance and performance and runs about 900 plus shiping on www.conceptzperformance.com. I would recommend a Jim Wolf ECU if for no other reason then they have a complete line of them for just about any combination of intakes, fuel injectors and hp ranges ready to ship. They are expensive at about 700 dollars but once you have the actual JWT ecu unit, you can get the different chips you need if you upgrade for 100.
www.specialtyz.com has some wicked downpipes and test pipes, total cost of both and shipping is $1000 or so depending if you want alumanized steel or stainless.
And after this, you pretty much need to upgrade the turbos. There is a few more things you can do but after this you've run up against the limits of the stock turbos. And the stock fuel injectors, which won't push more than 14 psi or so at high rpms.
If you want to upgrade the turbos then you can go as cheap as 5 grand or if you want to do a full rebuild with top performance in mind, you can drop as much as 30 grand to get a 800 rwhp Z32.
