They can take my models away from me, but they can't take my "models in-progress" away:grinyes:

Here are some pics of the chrome trim application. Window frames, door handles mainly:

Are the panel lines to dark/thick?

Coming along great. I always am enamoured with your little detail additions. They are stellar.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I finshed the headlight and tail lights.
The tail lights were tough since no chrome trim was detailed/molded into the kit-supplied lenses.
I used a chome/black chrome combo to simulate this:

Could be better, but good enough for me:p

On the home stretch! The engine bay is now complete, whew!
I added a hood latch, strut bar(left bare metal), radiator, upper hose, expansion line, Canton oil catch can and the cold-air duct to the carbs:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/500/133284bar.jpg
The body/interior were mated, but unfortunately the front valance cracked, I guess from cutting the front grille/hood. :banghead: F/R lights complete, added keyholes for door/hatch. Used Revell front grille.

Cool thing about the hood latch is that it's totally useful!

Just need suspension/exhaust and to somehow chrome the bumpers.
I hope to deliver the model to Paul Saturday June 10 at a local Datsun car show.

This is a great looking car and you are doing it full justice!
What color is that BTW (sorry, I'm too lazy to dig through the whole thread :( )

Thanks! It's supposed to be a metallic blue but I had a tough time replicating it. It still doens' tmatch the 1:1, too dark IMHO.
I used Tamiya Mica(TS-50?) and Tamiya Metallic Blue.

Couldn't finish by June 10, but I will finish soon!
Still working on suspension/chassis:

Added front sway bar, shocks and steering rack, also visible is the lower radiator that I made from solder:

The rear suspension was pretty tough. I had to remove and relocate the control arms, alter the halfshafts, route brake lines, and align everything because of the lower ride height:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284Untitled2.jpg
The modified halfshafts:

Brake lines:

Halfshafts in place!!!

Thanks for the motivation Will, and everyone else that's following this too!

Here are some final updates. All that is left is to chrome the bumpers!!!!!!!!

I added the front brake lines to the calipers:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/549112478/2971742810088060124sdjIgV
To finish the front end I added the T/C rods:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/133284frsusp.jpg

Made a license plate replica and added the hatch vents:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/549112478/2243496800088060124acnITj

Next is the exhaust:
I made this from solder, the muffler is plastic and the tip is a straw, I like the trumpet-style tip even though the 1:1 doesn't have one:grinyes:
also visible are the "240Z" vents/emblem and the antenna.

Amazing details. I can't wait to see the final shots.

I want to mention that this thread has made me decide to persue the purchase of a 240z of my own.. (start saving some cash for it anyway) ...awesome.
