Ok My buddy is thinking about getting a B16 for his 4th gen. He is wondering what B16 he should get if there is a specific one he should get and if there are specific ones he should stay away from? He was also wanting to know if his 5spd 4th gen tranny will bolt up to the B16?
Any help is welcome.

um it depends on the money
Costs on average 1200.00
b16a-from a jdm 90-91 SiR -160hp 112ft/lbs
b16a1-from a jdm integra XSi-same 160hp
Costs on average 1800.00
b16a3-from a usdm 94-97 del Sol DOHC VTEC 165hp??
b16a2-from a usdm 99-00 civic si 170hp
b16a-from a jdm SIR-II 170hp
No a 4th gen tranny WILL NOT bolt up, you need any b-series one.
basically a 90-01 integra or 94-97 del sol or 99-00 si. everyone except the 90-91 integra will need a hydro conversion kit...

Thanks for the quick advice, and i have two more question. Will the 4th Gen hub work or do i need the 90-93 teg hubs and what causes the 4th gen trany to not fit?? Yeah i know its an odd question, but my buddy has access to a full fabrication shop, and he is wantingto know if it's possable to fab out an adapter plate to get them to fit??

The b16 is much thicker than the d series and it will now clear the axel hole. I am sure with enough time and money you can make an adapter to mate the two and custom axels but the first time you dump it will all break. Do not buy a swap unless it is complete or you will have tons of down time and be out more money trying to peice it all together

^^ what he said, tranny wont bolt up becuase its a differnt patter/design. They are only interchangeable though the engine seriese such as B D H and so on.

no you can keep the same axle hubs, unless you have a STD or hf. The only difference b/w 4th gen axles and b16 ones are the length and design.

All swaps are possible. Its how u want it wired. If you want it obd1 then you convert non obd 2 obd1 same for obd2. Theres so many ways on doin this.

Try and score an LSD tranny if you can. ;)
On a sidenote, I may be converting my car to hydro and using an SiR2 tranny with LSD next year. :D

Well i would just get the type r trans if you gonna convert to hydro. I just dont trust b16 trans at all. I actually saw some guy on the partstrader selling a "brand new" type r trans for 900 shipped never used. Thats really cheap! Too bad i dont have a car anymore...shit :(

I don't think they're much more than $900 new from Acura are they? I remember a few guys buying them new and I thought they were only paying something like $1500cdn. for them?! Maybe I'm wrong.
One of the reasons I'm figuring SiR2 tranny is becaue they're $400+ less money than the ITR tranny, and I'm really sick of the ITR gearing. I hate being at 5,000rpm while cruizing on the highway. I'm driving 150km a day to go to work right now and I'm having to fill my tank every other day. :(
EDIT: Get a car man.. Just get a cheap $500 hatch, strip it and throw in a B16. Woohoo! Get back in teh game!

Well over here they sell them for like 1400 brand new. I only saw one and its jdm maybe thats why. I'm thinkin about get'n back into hondas but i'm really workin tryin to get the new EvoMr or maybe just maybe a brand new s2000 since my cuz'n can get me a great deal on any hondas since hes the head manager now! ;)
Oh and if i do get me a crx, i'd just get me a full gsr swap or type r if i can get a good deal on that. No more 1.6 for me :)

I think the ones I have are 90-91 integra, but im not compleatley sure. Its been over 2 years. On a side note, the B16 is durable as hell. Ive beat the crap out of it almost every day for over 2 yrs and still runs strong. Just trash trannys

Get the 90-93 integra axles along with the 90-93 intermediate shaft. You should be fine.

Well the intermediate shaft and the 90 - 93 driver side axle are not matching up. From the look of it the axle that should go on the driver side is the one from a 94 -01 Teg GSR, the ones that do not have the spline shaft on the side that is to meet up with the intermediate shaft. We had bought the 90-93 teg axles already and the passenger side fit but the driver side did not because it has splines on both side instead of splines on one side and the place for splines to slide into on te other.
Is it possible that the motor or the intermediate shaft are from the wrong year???? thanks for the supplied information.

The tranny that is being used is the one that came with the JDM motor. It is the Cable tranny.
