Hey ya'll im new to this thingy but whatever my problem is that I have a 1987 RX-7 13b rotory. its in great condition. i believe the sparkplugs are good. The motor turns over and everything but i dont get any fire out of the coils. I got the car from a used car salesman/buddy. the ignition coils had been taken off to be used on another car so i bought 2 ""new"" coils from a salvage yard. I hooked them up try to crank it but still get no 'FIRE' from them. Im maily wondering if there could be another problem.... or is it most likely that the coils are bad. If anybody can help i would greatly apreacate it. Thanks HANK

check the Crank angle sensor, or any bad connection
find someone with a 7 nearby and interchange pieces to see whats going wrong or not

it looks like a distributer, with no cap, just a flat black plastic cover and one little plug coming out one side of it

i had the same thing happen, but it was on a toyota pickup. I don't know how similar they are, but with that it was the igniter, which is the little metal box that the coil sits on and its basically a computer. It was easy to fix, but the part is incredibly expensive, it listed at 600 bucks
and they'd sell it to me for 400. I ended up getting one from a junkyard for 70. you could check that, but i'm not sure how, we just eliminated everything else that it could have been.
