well before i put the mbc in i was spikeing 20psi, then leveling out around 16. after 9 months of owning the car i never went wot through 2nd & 3rd gear pulls, last week when i finally went wot i was spiking 21 & leveling out a17psi all the time, pluss i noticed boost creep upto 20.. so i figured i needed to install this mbc. im right around 15 now.

check engen lights on. is that suppose to happen when you disconnect the Boost controle silinoid and intall a boost controller?

On a ball and spring type MBC, you need that hole. Heres why. You get into boost, go over your MBC setting, and the ball pushes against the spring and lifts off the seat. Pressure gets to the WGA and regulates boost. YOu let off to shift, boost pressure drops, and the spring seals the ball against its seat in the MBC. Guess what? The WG is still open ;) That relief hole allows that trapped pressure to escape allowing the WG to close after a shift. Too large a hole can cause spike, to small a hole does something else thats bad, but I cant think of it :icon16:

I didn't get a check engine light when I hooked mine up...get your code read at Autozone with their OBD-II cable and that should tell you what tripped the CEL.

did you disconnect the battery while you did the installation?... cause that might've been the problem.

yeah, didn't do the battery. why would that throw a light?

when you disconnected the intake which also requires you disconnecting the MAS sensor. and by disconnecting the sensor without disconnecting the battery first sometimes the ECU gets confused and throws a check engine light. which is why i started the habbit of disconnecting the battery whenever i work under my hood now.
should be able to clear the CEL by disconnecting the battery.

He shouldn't have had to disconnect the intake or MAS if he were just connecting the mbc...if he did the dump tube hack at the same time, that might have triggered something. Try disconnecting the batter like RiceRocket says, and see if that clears the code; if not, that's when you go to autozone :D. It's funny how sometimes these things randomly happen when we are modding, yet they can be unassociated with any mods we do, just pure timing and luck!

thats true. i had to dissconect the maf becasue i did take my injen pipe off to easly get my needle nose pliars on the vac clamps, and to disconnect my bcs. im stupid for not dissconection my battery though. should always do it, i dont know what i was thinking.

You should actually disconnect the battery as seldom as possible. It just makes you drive for a couple days without optimum settings as the ECU relearns. I avoid it as much as possible. Better to have a logger handy so you can just clear the DTC without having to interupt power to the ECU ;)
