Riced Out Mustang's/Corvettes

Let me first start of by saying there are some good looking civic's/acura's out on the streets. I don't hate ricers as long as the look clean. Now with that said what do you guys think of a mustang or corvette with aftermarket lights. Are they rice or do they still look cool? Now check out this stang rice or not?

You can't really "rice" a Corvette. A rice means that a low performance car is customized to look fast. A Corvette with a hundred APC and Type-R stickers on it is still a high performance car that can outrun and outhandle most cars on the road.

No it doesn't. Rice is an attitude, if a guy puts Altezzas on his Civic purely for decoration, is he a ricer? No, he understands they are for decaration.

the mustangs are severly ghetto the tails are okay, if you think those are ugly you should see the ones here in my area form the oldies to the new ones! camaros and mustangs and firebirds are number one here.

that is the worst looking mustang I've ever seen in my life. I'd rather have a stock one right off the lot. Althought I'd take a camaro or vette over a mustang anyway, so it doesnt really matter.

both of those cars just look stupid. the taillights are ok, they look better on certain cars than others, but they cost like $200-$250. i wouldnt pay that much for taillights.

How about the late F-Bodies?

Both cars are legal for SCCA T2 racing, and the Firebirds/Camaros have won the Runoffs (national championship) for the last 3 years. The 2001 winner was an E36 BMW M3, and I can't find any results further back than that. The rules for the class keep the cars fairly close to stock, and in the areas where they're not stock, they get equal upgrades.

I personally don't care what my car looks like, all I care about is what is under the hood of my CRX. I don't spend money on tailights, and crap like that, only on the engine. Does that make me a ricer?

NIN881, are you talking about Grand Am Cup or the Rolex 24 Hours series in Grand Am racing?

Because in GAC the dominant car was the Trans Am WS6 until the Corvette Z06 arrived on the scene.

Nowadays in GAC dominance has been replaced by parity between 350Z's, Cadillac CTS-V's (as GM's factory team switched from Trans Ams, to Vettes, to the CTS-V), and Porsche 911's.

In Speed World Challenge, GT class, the only Mustang that has ever contended for wins has been the factory supported Saleen SR Widebody.

As far as Rolex series Mustang wins - GTS/AGT class in particular - those are converted Trans Am/SCCA GT1 cars. Full tube chassis race cars with carbureted 302's, carbon bodies, and Jerico transmissions.

Grand am cup. You are definately more knowledgeable in this area then I am. I only know what I have seen on tv. the discovery channel had a program that built a mustang race car for ford and they compared it to the grand am cup stock car.

The reason I have a stang is I need a manual and could not find a six speed in my price range or in good shape. I found a stang in mint for under book and couldn't pass it up. I was sick of the v6 dogmaro. I really wanted a z28 but the after market for a 5.0 si awesome so I took a chance. The mustang doen't rattle like every gm car I have ever seen with 80000+ miles on it.

You are right about the 350z's and cts's dominateing the series. GM has everybody but porsche out of the competition it seems. I love vettes, but they are way to expensive for my budget. BTW, are trying to get me to swich back to GM. if you are, it might just work.

Minor correction here: The WC Saleens have very little factory support, and if you call any of the Saleens "Mustangs" with any of their respective team members nearby, you WILL recieve a detailed explanation that it's not really a Mustang. :biggrin: Most of the little factory support John Young has gotten I believe has come from Saleen, and not from Ford.

Otherwise, the rest of the post was dead on. There were a couple of GAC Mustangs that have done well, including having finished 3rd at Mt. Tremblant this year before being disqualified (for too much fuel capacity, there's a LONG story behind this that's probably worthy of another thread, and it wasn't really their fault), but in general they have not been very impressive lately.

It is more a tragedy to see a Vette "riced" vs. a Mustang (considering the buyers). But as I said and likewise I'll stick by, rice is in every breed. But if it makes them happy, then at least I have somthing to do in my spare time... :lol:
