1999 Tahoe horn intermittently fails

As the topic suggests, the horn in my wife's Tahoe occasionally fails, or it takes considerable force to make it honk (more than she's capable of providing). Initially, I thought I would start by taking a look to see if there was any obvious corrosion or simply dirty connections, but then an image of an airbag exploding in my face clouded my thoughts of grandeur.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Any guides on taking a look into the steering wheel? I would appreciate any thoughts!

I have a 1997 Tahoe that had intermittent horn. It was the relay in the fuse box under the hood. Replacement was $16 at NAPA.

I also had intermittent starter problems which required new relay in the same area. This is noted since the Chiltons Manual (& I believe the GM 1997 shop manual) DOES NOT SHOW the RELAY in the circuit.

For posterity, and for thanks to glenncof, I just wanted to follow-up and say that this was indeed the problem. Merely by reseating the relay, the horn started working like a charm. Next time I'm near a parts store, I'll just pick up the replacement.
