2.7l

I can't believe that Chrylser won't admit that the 2.7 is flawed. I had purchased a 99 Intrepid with the 2.7. After having it for 6 months, and after having the oil, lube and filter done on it.....the engine started to knock, then there was this noise. Took it to a mechanic who told me a rod was about to go through the engine if I continued to drive it. He told me that any mechanic anywhere would have told me it was a garbage engine. Wish I had know about it before I got the car. I'm on a lease to own, so it's either find another engine (really not into the 2.7!!!) or give the car back and take the consequences. Can't seem to find 2.7's and to upgrade to bigger engine will cost a fortune. Not to mention a rebuilt will cost over 6000.00!! All parts coming from Chrysler, of course. Why has no one wanted to take on Chrylser? From what I have seen, the part causing the issue is a small tube (sludging). Chrysler could replace it for about 99 cents. I have read the posts from 'happy' 2.7 owners, but have read many, many more from unhappy 2.7 owners. The maintenance required on this engine shouldn't have to be that strict.
And Chrysler's customer support apparently is non existent. Am I the only one who sees the little guy getting screwed by the big corporate giant? I even talked to a Chrysler Service Manager who told me to take the car back and drop it, that the engine was garbage.

I know there are a couple of class action lawsuits pending in the states, has anyone been aware of any in Canada?
