I'm practically new to cars especially camaros and i just put a 3 inch cat-back on my 96 z28 and now I'm wondering if I need to increase the intake size on my car? do intake and exhaust have anything to do with each other or is the exhaust just for the gasses produced by the engine? kinda of stupid but somebody had to ask LOL

thx

its kinda like how you breathe.... fresh air comes in dirty air comes out.... let say you put a straw to your mouth and try to breathe thru it.. kinda hard huh... well take that straw away and its alot easier... kinda like freeing up your intake... i dunno if this makes sense.. but more air more power...

no nessesarily... i have heard of people having HP decreases because they went overboard. for instance on you 96 z28 you have a 48mm throttle body... you could go ahead and put a 52mm and it will help give you more HP, but if you were to put a 58mm on it would have a negative effect unless you were running Nitrous or a Super charger

yea not too big.... just like if you open your mouth big.... you dont need all that air

you don't NEED it... it won't hurt either way... but there are more cost effective ways to give your camaro more HP

it really doesn't matter cause the only intake he could get for that car is a LT4 intake and heads if he wanted to stay FI... If you put exhaust on you car and do not have cold air intake get one, the K&N set up is real nice with proven HP gains...

well they have other intakes for your car but they are only for carb. lt1 engines, they only have one intake for a fi (fuel injected) lt1 and that is a lt4 intake but you would have to get the lt4 heads in order for it to fit... other than that you would have to have one custom made...

just get a moroso cold air intake and call it good. Anything else will be going over board for a stock application.
