Uncontrollable Taurus

Last month my wife started the car and was going to move it forward 6 inches or so so the vaccum the car. She had the door open and one leg outside the car. Her other foot on the brake. She put the car in gear and the car shot forward through the closed double steel garage door and stopped approximately just over one car length from where it was sitting. Her leg was badly bruised from where the car door struck her leg from when the door struck the garage door frame. Earlier that month I had experienced transmission surging while driving at a steady speed without the cruise on. Has anyone experienced this or heard of this? I have heard of this in earlier Taurus' and there was even a tV report on it.
