New Shocks

I know this topic may have been covered a million times already, but Im gonna ask again. I am looking for a good front shock for my truck. A shock that wont bounce me in the next lane if I hit a bump, also one that wont feel like I'm driving a caddy. I am looking for a shock that feels like a truck shock, but not a tractor truck shock, if you know what I mean.

I am kinda partial to Rancho, and I have been looking at the RS5000, but when I had them on my CJ7 they seems very hard. Also Im not interested in those $100 a pop shocks.

Any input you guys have would be great.

If you want a shock that meets your requirement then there are 2 brands that I would recommend and the first of those I peronally use. 1st KYB Monomax run between $55-75 per shock, the 2nd brand is Bilsten HD they will run between $70-90 per shock. If you have a z71 and want the same ride one of these 2 shocks would be the best. The KYB was a better warranty than Bilsten does. I have guys that are replacing the factory bilsten's with kyb's because they say the ride is better and it holds to the road better. BTW the rs5000 is a twin tube shock and they will not be much better than what you have if your truck is not a z71, after a few good bumps the shock will start to fade. Hope this helps.

I've got the Monomax on my 88 K3500 and I'm fairly happy with the quality for the price I paid.

Thanks, I was wondering about the KYB mono max and the gas-adjust. Sounds like the mono max is better for my Z71

I put Rancho RSX on my 97 and I'm happy with them. The ride
is a bit choppy on the highway but a firm, supple ride most of the time.
and the ability to absorb major jolts surpsed me. I paid about $70e

The gas-adjust is a similar shock to the monomax but the ride with be stiffer because it is a load control shock.
