driving in snow???

Ok in idaho the weather is getting bad since its getting close to fall, and wanted to know if anyone drives there 3kgt base not vr4 in the snow? How does it perform? Best type of tires I should use? Studded tires?

im in new york and i have a sl i drove all last winter..its not too bad just u cant hit the gas hard at all otherwise u wont stop spinnin lol

I live around St. Louis, MO. As u know we don't get much snow around here, but i drove my SL in it two different times. It wasn't too bad, don't try accelerating hard cuzz it's not going to happen. Also, watch ur breaking...they have great control if u start sliding, i never came close to going out of control and i tested it pretty well...I would say they aren't too bad of a problem. Oh and my tires were Goodyear Eagle HPs.

i got a vr4 and im hoping to try it this winter in the snow just gotta keep it under 3k so i dont spin thos turbos or else im in trouble.lol

I love driving my vr4 in the winter. go into a parking lot and tap the gas. weeeeeeeee

yeah i had regular tires on my car i dont know exactly what kind they are but it worked fine..not a problem.

Northern Michigan weather gets a few hundred inches of snow a year. I do not drive the Spyder in the snow - at all. My other VR4 I would take out if there was no other option and it was fantastic at moving, but not so good at stopping. If you want to drive one of these cars in incalmate weather, you need narrower winter tires. I'll give you the grip you'll need.

NOOO, Take it off insurance for the winter and buy a $500 winter car!!!!! You dont want a rusted up 3000GT do you?? cuz unless wash it everyday, your gonna get some rust. Not just on the outside..but in the engine, suspension, and exhaust. Never a good idea to drive a sports car in snow, they're made for dry pavement. But if you have no choice then it's probably good being as heavy as it is, the weight being distributed pretty evenly from front to back, and being FWD not RWD is always a plus. And if you rust it up, oh well, one less 3KGT thats mint out there and the value of mine goes up a dollar or two :P.

BTW: I'm just saying that from experience here in New York where if theres a drop of snow, they drop 50 tons of salt on the road. If they don't use so much salt where you live then it isn't as big of a deal to drive in the snow.

What will really do you in is the salt from the rodes. Don't leave that on your rims because it's going to just chew them apart.

Yeah, I agree completely with formula...store it, take it off insurance, and get a beater or ride the bus...I unfortunantly didn't store mine last year...as I had no alternative..and the NY salt did rust my rotors, rims, and suspension a bit...it sucks! Store it and wait for spring.
