front suspension identification

I am told that I have a cougar front suspension (Upper & Lower control arms, springs, ball joints, spindle, hubs, brakes, etc) bolted into a 65 mustang that I just bought and that was converted from a 6 cyl to an 8. Can someone tell me how to determine if it really is a Cougar front end? What year? Where the part numbers are located on the parts. Any other advice about early Cougar front ends?
