I just had my truck worked on and it still has the same problem....It has the 4 cylinder 22rec engine and it has to be turned up to 8-9btdc for it to run good. If it is turned down to 5 btdc like it is suppost to be it has no power and misses. Just spent $600 on new timing gear, timing hosing, having the head milled, and tune up. One of the problems with having the timing so far advanced is that it runs at 1300-1400 rpms instead of the 800 that is should be at with a real strong smell of gas from exhaust. Any suggestions would be appreceated.

Sounds to me like whoever done your timing has the chain off a tooth. The timing chain on these has marks on the chain itself, and its very easy to do.
