98 LS completely locked up.

I drove my car to work after lunch, then worked for 3 hours and went out to it and it would not do anything. I can't remember if I had locked it with the keys or not when I got back from lunch but I usually do. That would mean that I unlocked it remotely, entered the car, inserted the key turned and nothing happened at all. Nothing works in the car. The remote doesn't work. Stereo won't turn on, locks won't work, nothing in the dash lights up. The key will turn but nothing happens and I can't get the key out. As far as I know I didn't jam anything in there. The steering wheel turns freely. Cannot put the car in gear. I tried jumping it but didn't think it would work and it didn't.

Pretty much the entire car is dead and other than sitting there nothing changed from when I parked it to when I opened it up. I went back after a few hours to see if maybe it had just gotten really hot in the heat and that wasn't it. (Sometimes cars get quirky if they sit in the heat)

Anybody have any ideas? Even though this means now I have to drive my little Corrado around all the time now, it still sucks having a beautifully clean Buick not getting used.

Thanks in advance.

Went back, checked fuses/relays. Swapped out new battery in remote entry. Disconnected battery to try and get it to reset itself. Everything looked fine but nothing worked.

Check to make sure the ground wire going to the block from the battery is connected or damaged. I would also check the starter solenoid. It is very unusual for a car to completely die like this where everything goes dead. It has to be in the circuit from the battery to the rest of the electronics especially if all the fuses and relays are in good shape. One question, Did you replace the vehicle battery with a new one? Batteries today tend to go totally dead without warning. That may be the entire problem. Good Luck!

do you have interior lights, or absolutely no power? Check your battery, you may have a broken side post terminal, and it just so happened to pop out when you shut the door.
