i just got an 01 civic for my 17th bday. i wanted a manual transmission but i had to settle for an auto since i wasnt paying for it. i put all my money from work into it to make it look nice, but its still auto. i want to put a new transmission and maybe a dohc v-tech engine. how much is it gunna cost me (considering i cant just get a new car) and what do i need to buy? is there anything better out there than a dohc that i can put in my car for a decent price?

Look in one of the top threads of the 92+ Civic forum for ideas and info on engine swaps available to see what is best for you. Also use the search feature near the top right and you'll find a few threads that will give you detailed info on the auto to manual conversion.

i dunno about the 01 civic engine bay , maybe better suited for a k20 swap , if not a B16 would be an excellent choice , DOHC VTEC 160 hp , rather cheap , and LOTS of mods available ...you can find one for around 2 grand with tranny .... also an Ls integra motor, B18B would be a great choice , but i would mate it up with a closer gear ratio tranny than the Ls tranny in your case ...

go ahead and slap that k20 in there and call it a day. we just did a k20 swap into a 00 si with k-pro. Only took a few days...

call around and ask. most shops will try to screw you over, especially on a motor swap. A compentent person could do a k20 swap over a weekend, probably around 6k with all parts and labor. I found a k20 out of a wrecked rsx-s for 2,800.

yes, the whole engine is reversed and you use the k20 tranny

reversed meaning they spin an opposite direction than the b series engines do
