Chipping ecu

I just got shunk ecu chip and just installed it. It seems to me that my integra is run just the same before the chip, no extra hp. Does anyone know if i have to get some tuning done in order to have get the 15-20 horse power that a mod chip should give me. Is there anyway to test to see if the chip is working other then just getting on a dyno.

nope, chips are usually a waste of money, how much did you pay for it?? most of the time companys that make those chips, just make random guesses as to what your settings should be, the absolute best way is to tune it with a wideband and a VAFC or something to that effect, a standalone like a hondata would be best but those are expensive and cost more to tune because they are so precise.

sounds to me like you just bought one of those gay skunk2 "ecu enhancers" on e-bay for like $10 - "INCREASES 10-20hp and only takes 10mins to install!" those guys are a bunch of bullshitters. because they know that they will sucker so many people into buying it. if you want BIG hp gains then dont mess with ecu's. the only time you want to get a chip is when you are fully modified, then it will give you like 5-10hp. if you want hp then save your money and get a turbo, supercharger, or n20. dont waste your time and money on those chips

actually if you are fully modified, or even somewhat modified those chips, as well as others will give you minimal, if any all, increase in horsepower, the only real way to unlock horse power from even the most mildely modded car to a full modded car is to put it on the dyno and tune the hell out of it, cam gear, and fuel tunning combind.

Its not a waste! Its only a waste if your motor is STOCK! Get some aftermarket cams/cam gears and get it tuned. You might see more than 20hp gain with a good tune.

if you have aftermarket cams and cam gears you should see better than a 20hp increase just from that alone, as long as its tuned. but i promise you mellowboy, those chips are a waste, they are best guess and they have noidea what your car needs for the modifications it has, so why waste your money on something that wont show the full potential of the car?? thats why you need to program your own unit, or let a competitent motor tuner do so.

Ok from the other thread u been sayin the samething. I'm gonna say it again...those engine management units are not needed when the motor is not heavily modified! How many times do i have to say it to get it through your head? Whos gonna spend 550 -1400 just to tune a nearly stock motor? Chip ecu does work with TUNING!!! My friend gain 8 1/2 lbs of torque and saw 18 hp with Kenji ecu! He only spent 250 on the damn thing!
