Accessory Key position Problem

We just bought our first van (a Safari) and we are loving it so far however....we can't get the key to be turned back to the accessory position. We took it back to the independent dealer we bought it from and were told by the salesman (who was told by the service dept) that they took a look at it and there wasn't one - it was an option.(LOL) Once I got over my total shock I called GM and they comfirmed that the accessory key position was indeed part of the ignition column and was there. GM told me that it could be just the key cut and a mechanic friend suggested we shoot some WD 40 into the the key slot in case it was just stuck. Tried the WD 40 and the key will still not turn back to the accessory position. Anyone else ever had a problem like this? Taking it back to where we bought it sends shivers down my spine! Any advice anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated

Small electrical soleniod mounted on the dashboard side of the ignition lock housing has major issues. Was just reading on the GMC Jimmy forum where everyone is just keeping a screwdriver in their console to push on it when it acts up. The parts are only about $70 and most all dealer parts depts have them in stock.
