I have a 1986 caprice with a 4.3 liter V6 and i was wondering, with all the smog junk on there how hard is it to change the plugs? and also is it hard to tear down because my valve seals are leaking down and the car puffs some smoke here and there, also its got a metric tranny in it will a 350 turbo drop right in? because i have one in my garage and i would love to install in my car just curious if it can be done with some sort of ease, I hope someone out there can answer these questions.

Should be able to change the plugs and all fairly easily unless they are siezed. Valve stem seals should be able to be replaced in a few hours with right tools and mechanical ability. Just dont drive the new ones down to far or you will have same thing you have now. Not so sure about the tranny, size should fit, but not sure about what tranny mount to use and the linkage.

Most tune ups are a pain.but worth it.at least you dont have one of those setups where some brilliant engineer put some or all of your plugs under the intake manifold!
As far as tranny goes, all GM turbohydras are interchangeable, but there are a few exceptions-the 350 and I belive the 700 overdrive trannies needed a support bar near the output end, where your driveshaft mounts to tran. You should have bolt holes pre drilled for this on your frame. The other issue I am aware of is that beginning in 1989 turbohydras were made with an electrical, computer controlled modulator instead of the vacuum modulator thats on yours. If the th350 you want to use is vacuum modulated and you have the bolt holes and the cross member, all should be well.
