I need some help. I have a 99 Isuzu Rodeo thats been giving me some problems. When I attempt to start it, it clicks, then clicks again, then it starts to turn over but may stop, then it either clicks again or just turns over and starts. Could this just be the starter. I play with the shifter sometimes because I though it wasn't starting because it wasnt completely in park. Also, does anyone know if replacing a starter is a big job or could I just do it myself. I replaced a starter in my jeep but it was an old one and it was pretty much just following the manual. Thanks

Jerry

Do you know where I can find information on how to change it myself? Like a step by step instruction or something? Thanks for your help.

If you need step by step instructions, buy a service manual. It shouldn't be much different from the old jeep you changed one out on. You disconnect the electrical connections and unbolt the thing, then do the reverse to put it back on. Don't forget to unhook the negative battery cable. If this sounds too complicated, I would suggest you take it to a mechanic.

1. disconect battery negative cable
2. crawl under vehicle with ratchet 14mm socket
and six inch extension
3. remove two bolts holding starter in place
pull starter down out of place
4. get out from under vehicle get a 12mm wrench
guess what's next. Yep disconnect power from
starter
Installation is reverse from removal
GOOD LUCK

Here you go I just did this myself and it included one extra step in order to get to the starter.
