i took my car to be inspected today, an the mechanics up there said the car wont pass inspection because of the exhaust hangs so low an is bent near the front of the car, he didnt say what exactly was. an hes gonna charge $530 to replace it with the stock exhaust system. but i cant afford that, so i was thinkin buy a cheaper system from greddy or somethin an hav them put it on, they dont charge much for labor. but most are still too expensive. anyone know where i could order a cat-back below $500?

If you really want, you can get a Pacesetter, they're like $230 or so, not really that good and not stainless steel, but you seem to be kind of in a pinch.

$530 for an stock exhaust is overcharge. Just get an aftermarket exhaust...and if you want 50 state legal go for Apexi World Sport. Got mine for $350 and installed it myself...but had to heat the bolts cause they were so rusted.

heard bad things about Pacesetter.
Apexi WS2 or Greddy SP2 would be nice. I also like Magnaflow.

yea. everyone i talk to say that all pacesetters, for any model of any make eventually crack sooner or later. some people wonder why they're still in business. i'm talking about headers, i think your talking about exhausts, i dunno, its too early in the morning. either way, if they're horrible reputation for headers is any indication of they're quality in exhaust, STAY AWAY!

Pacesetter used to have a different name, I can't remember what it was; but some of the leftover stock is leaking through (ebay comes to mind) the market. Damnit, i'll let you guys know when the name comes to mind... :grinno:

they said they could only put on the stock, they wouldnt put anything else on if i bought it. i dont hav any tools to put it on myself either, so i'm gonna hav to stick with stock for awhile. i'm gettin a job at a Honda or Mitsubishi dealership in feburary, so i should be able to afford somethin good from GReddy

um, you can get an inspection done at any fucking shop, you really just ripped your self right off!!!... NOW I SEE WHY YOUR NAME IS RETARD!!!

obviously they were telling you they would only put on stock because they wanted to make a killing off you, it only takes about an hour to put on a catback exhaust system- depending on where you live and who you know, 40-60$. Then you have many choices of exhausts, you can get a fucking stock exhaust for about 200 bucks offline!! THATS 260 rather than 550!! or you go aftermarket top of the line installed for under 500!!! common man, you gotta do some research before making a decision like that!! I mean its only the 8th of the month, so you still had 22 days until your inspection went.

this was for last month, i never bothered to get it inspected. you think of that yourself ryan? very smart. an i see your a telemarketer, everyone hates you. the place i took my car is supose to be the best, they gave my sister a free oil change once an fixed my moms tail light for free. i didnt bother lookin up the price on a stock exhaust since they're spose to be the best around here, that 520 is also for the inspection and labor, but doubt the inspection costs much

inspection is a state mandated price, in NY like 15 bucks, labor, like i said is 40-60 bucks, and you should look up prices THATS WHY YOUR SUCH A NEWB and should research before dishing out 500 bucks for a freekin stock exhaust!! haha, i would have sold you my old one for like 100 bucks !!

if newb was supose to make me mad, or somethin like most people use it for, didnt work. everyones a newbie at one point in their life. like i said, they wouldnt put on anythin if i bought it, i checked with other shops an they said they would hav charged about the same. i personally dont know anyone who could do anythin more than a oil change. also gotta remember that they opened a auto shop to make a profit. i dont really care about it as much anymore. i havent seen or heard my car in a week now. i can buy a new exhaust an tools later when i get some more money.
i bought the car with it on, so its not a big loss... whoever put it on did a shitty job anyway
