1988 Ranger XLT Headlight Problems

Hello all. I have a 1988 Ford Ranger XLT, that recently has been giving me a horrible time with the headlights. I was driving home at night, about a week ago, and when I switched the high beams on, the lights completely went out. I was stuck on the side of the road, pulling the headlight switch back and forth, and switching the high beam switch on and off. They came back on, however when I got going again, they continued going on and off. The next day, I replaced the headlight/ dimmer switch that mounts right above the fuse panel. That STILL didn't repair the damage! So right now, I'm confused with what I should do. I don't know if the wiring is bad, the switch is bad or what have you. I do know that both bulbs are relatively new, and I doubt they'd both die. They just continue to flicker on and off, and now they won't turn on at all, except when they want to!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since it's both headlights, then find the common links to both of them. Do your marker lights, tail-lights act up too? Check your fuse, check the headlamp relay (if you got one) check the wires supplying power, check the ground connection.

I Inherited My Grandpas 89 Ranger And The Same Thing Happend Check The Wiring Harness And Your Headlight Switch Connection Is Probably Loose Somewhere

I have similar thing happening. In the park light position nothing works. In the head light position only the head lights are on and no tail, park or brake lights work. Can find a sweet position in between where it all works. Replace the swith and lost the sweet position, only head lights in that position.
