Haa anyone experienced these problems? Radio is on but speakers don't make a sound when car is in gear...put car in neutral or park speakers work? Power assist to the power steering goes when in gear...put in park or neutral works fine. Door locks and windows don't work in gear samething put in park or neutral they work. Someone posted way back in Jan of 2004 that it was a shorted transmission safety switch..or as she called it a transmission range switch or sensor. I have called around at auto parks houses and they tell me every name but these ...could it be a safety/neutral switch? Please help if you can!! Thanks

It's called a TRS, (Transmission Range Sensor) and the problems you are having sound like they are related to it. If you look at where your transmission shift cable hooks up to your tranny, which is pretty much right at the top of it, you'll see a flat moon shaped black plastic part with an electrical connector that hooks to the right side of it. On the left is a lever which your tranny shift cable hooks to. This thing is mounted by two bolts, top and bottom. Thats your TRS. It might just need to be adjusted, there is a special tool required for this.
