78 vett operating temp?

my 78 vett (L-48) runs at 200 degrees..I have a new clutch fan..radiator... 160 degree thremostat..new belts etc..is this normal for a 78..I'd like it to run cooler..should I remove the thermostat? need advise..

best advice ... do NOT pull the thermostat! get some water wetter from redline synthetics and drive that mean machine!

I really don't think that 200 is an abnormal summer running temp but you could add an electric fan to the radiator for additional cooling.
As the above poster said, don't pull the thermostat. It won't make it run any cooler and will cause issues with getting up to operating temp initially.

I Have A 67 Chevy C10 Truck I Shoved A 78 Corvett 350 Rebuilt Everything.added Roller Rockers Air Gap Intake Hedeaders, Cam And Higher Compression Pistons It Runs At 200 Deg. On A 105 Deg Day. Added Water Wetter Came Down To 195 Deg Im Running A 180 Deg T-stat

I too have a 78 with heating problems.
It can get in excess of 220. Not good. Replaced thermostat, heavy duty clutch fan, rodded radiator
At one point, I replaced the foam stripping all around the radiator. It seemed to help substantially, but the foam doesn't stay in place.
The temp inside the cabin is always too hot around my legs.
ANY OTHER IDEAS?
