87 cherokee wiper problems

Wipers dont work. I thought it was the intermitent controller first. It wasnt I replaced that. So next I replaced wiper motor - still no good. I used a volt meter to check the connection at the motor. When the wipers are on high aand the black and red are disconnected from the Motor they register power. When I connect the to motor I can no longer detect power. Please help! Its driving me crazy!

Maybe something is grounding out or not grounded properly.

did you check to see if the motor had continuity?
