99 GM:Hard shift tran becomes soft?

Was hoping someone might be able to tell me what is going on with my Metro. Ever since new the 5 spd was hard to shift. Then tonight in the space of 2 blocks it went from hard to shift to extremely easy to shift, almost like it was caked in mud and then the mud fell off, if that makes sense. On the drive home I paid particular attention and noticed I don't have problems down shifting or up shifting (syncros seem to still be doing their job), is not making any weird noises, and is as responsive as ever when clutching, speeding up or slowing down.
Can anyone help?

Bull:
Sounds like something was working wrong BEFORE. I own a 96 4 door metro and shifting is always smooth (up or down) specially on higher speeds.
Just to be sure, take your car to replace your transmission oil and see if there are some metal scuffs on it. Sounds like some part inside your trans was misplaced.
If you find metal scuff on it, better check the trans even when everything looks ok. Could be some silent problem that could become worse afterwards.
Hope this helps metrobro,
MC.
