I have a 1983 944 that I cannot stop from running rich. Did tune-up, tried new mass flow sensor but noting seems to help.

Check lamda sensor, (oxy sensor), if its giving a false reading the ECU could over fuel. does it have a CAT on a car as old as that in the US?

We got CAT's in the early to mid seventies set as law. Don't remember the exact year, but you can assume any car from mid-seventies up is legally required to have a cat.

I was 94 when we had to have CATS by law. Even now tho, people still fit replacment pipes for more power, and then refit them for the MOT test each year.
