83 Civic starter??

hi i have an 83 civic wagon and i need to replace the starter....when i went up to the auto parts store.....they said theirs two different kind....nippodenso and another one....which one do i need...how can i find out??? thankss !

Guessing you don't have a manual, there is a band around where the connectors are. It should give the brand name(mine didnt say honda on it). An there ya go. Or, im not sure, but check the engine size and let the guy at the part store know....common sense should figure this out....hope this helps.

well other than brand name the only difference would be in engine size, the 1.3 and 1.5 have a different starter i believe. like RSLaser said, just find out what your engine size is and go from there. EM1 is 1.5 code and i can't remember what the 1.3 code is but it's in the link in my sig. the code is written on a tag on the left side of the engine compartment.
