there is a governor, you need to find your ecm and find a black and white wire, that should be the wire for the governor. you can splice in a switch or just cut the wire and clip the ends.

ok thanks but are you sure there is a governor?? i looked it up in the forum and everyone else said there isnt. and i tried it again last night and i got to 130 but then it stopped there.

No such thing as a Governor on our cars gismo, there is however something that effects every single car out there, wind resistance, that can easily keep you from going very fast, as well as what RPM your shifting in.

my bad about the governor. other than wind resistance and rpm's why can't integra123 get past 130 and i can't get past 100??

i dont know but i was at 6000 rpms in 5th and i couldnt get faster then that, tho i had to slow down a little cause i was getting off the express way.

Which year and model Integra do you have? I have a stock '92 GS-R and this past July I did a little over a two mile stretch doing 120 on the expressway and it felt like it had a few more mph in her. If you're maxing out at 100 mph, with the mods you've done, then either you're driving against the wind during a huricane, or something is wrong.

i have a 96 ls. and i does seem like there is more mph left it just takes a long time. next time i go out ill have to see how far i go

LS Trannies have considerably longer gearing than the 92-93 GSR, so that could be the difference there.

I dont find a reason to go 130 mph down the expressway. Nothing special about it only death.
Now if you were to do 130 in a 1/4 then that might be something to talk about. Personally im glad you guys cant make it over 100 or 110. Dont mean to sound rude or anything, just speakin the truth.

One way to test if you are really hitting the governor, nexttime try it downhill. Once you hit the limit set by the govenor your fuel and spark will cut out and the car will coast down 5-10 mph before you get any power back. It will feel like you just fucked something up big time and then it will drive normally up to the limit again and the cycle repeats until you get in there and do some ecu work.

i have heard that, but i have never seen it. if you ask me i think that would be hazardous. (not that going 130 isnt). If you personally ask me i think it could be 1 of two things. it could be your horsepower. there is a word that comes into my mind. terminal velocity. just take that word and think about what it means. maybe thats the top engine horspower and speed that it can go against withought having to deal with wind resistance. another is a govener. they dont want your dumbass to go past a certain mph because your tires will go out. If you ask me, i love going about 130mph...its fun. But your tires cant stand that so they will blow out. that is why they have different ratings for tires. I think that our tires on the integra are H's (meaning cant go past 130mph). But my friend has a saab 900se turbo, and we were going 145 and still going - his speedometer ends at like 155mph too. i didnt check wat tires he has on his car. but with a turbo, your hp doesnt really have a "terminal velocity", thats what i think - it is possible that it does, but not until you get to the higher mph. another reason is wind resistance. you might not think so, but it has to do A LOT with your speed. also your drag coeficient(aerodynamics). and your transmission gears. it has to do with a TON of things. with my car i have only been able to get to around 125mph. then it just doesnt go any farther. but i did a calculation - if i got rid of my govener (if that was the case) i would be able to do around 158mph at 7000rpm's. :iceslolan sounds like fun. thats my :2cents: hope you got a little better understanding of what i meant. not all of you will journey through my long and boring passage. lol :banghead:

ok, if our teg's had a governor, and some of you can do 100 or 125 or 140 then when the fuck does it kick in? don't you think that it would be the same for most of us? yes it would. i have taken mine to 143 mph. and i have an LS. there is no damn governor! do you have the windows down when you are trying to reach topspeed. if so put them up without the A/C on. finding a level road. the condition of the car. wind. tires. all of these are factors. not a governor.

i think he is right....i think it is just a "terminal velocity" of your performance parts and aerodynamics.
so all you need is a strong built motor w/ turbo, and good body kit and speed has no limitations :evillol:

sorry for bringing back this old topic..
but i read about this.. and tested it out the other night..
if u want to reach ur top speed a LITTLE.. easier..
close all windows...
turn up the heat..
keeps ur engine cooler
and alot less wind resistance..
the other night
got up to 105 first time in about 7-8 minutes
second time got up to 112
the traffic was a little more open but still i could tell it was doing it with less stress
try it.. but please be safe..

if you bought a used car, the previous owner of it may have removed the govenor, and on others they may not have.
I would imagine most came from the factory with govenors since integras are pretty capable stock and i know there are regulations on such, I know my friend's mom's Mercedes 230 Kompressor has a govenor that stops it at 140mph.

I dont think they cant hit 143 cuz of their windows down, or AC on, I think its cuz they have the B18 still. gottsa love that B20's torque. just wont stop pulling.
back when I had my rs hatch, I got going 128 with I/H/E on the freeway, it still ws pulling but really slowly and I didnt ned to go any fastre so I let er drop back down to about 100 and cruised.
my mustang did have a governor on it though set at 115 and youll know what it feels like when you hit it, rev, die, rev, die, rev, die, rev, die, etc....
and it doesnt really die just loses all power.
GT's might not have it that low but the V6 does.

actually i had everything minus the b20 at that time! i had a long strecth of road in south florida that is like 5 miles of straight. it took me about that with the windows up and a/c off. i have yet to try it out with the b20. ooohhhh that will be fun though.:evillol:

I got one
its got JE custom 11:1 pistons and has a blockgaurd.
clinder 4 needs to be resleeved because the wrist pin walked because of no lock clips from bad info from the shop and wqore grooves in it.
it is a shortblock too, perfect for the hybrid, no head or driven accesories.
I got about 1500 into it but ill let it go for 500 bucks but you gotta pick it up here in WA, or I can drive and meet you halfway for some more cash depending on where you live.
next thing I do is gonna be years from now so I dont neeed to haul this thing around with me.
