WANTED: 4TH GEN 5 SPD MAXIMA SE. PREFERABLY BLACK, WHITE OR THAT WEIRD STERLING GRAY COLOR.

I'M LOSING HOPE! Finding a 5 spd is as hard as spotting Bigfoot. Oh except they got Bigfoot on tape! I'm almost ready to say "f*ck it" and buy a GLE instead.

Any words of wisdom or encouragement?

Don't get an automatic if you want a 5spd. You will regret it.

I used www.autotrader.com and successfully found a mint condition 99 SE 5spd just off lease with 43k on it. Looks and drives like brand new, only it's already broken in for me! :D

On www.autotrader.com, go to the Used Car search and then go to the advanced search and specify MANUAL transmission. Hopefully there will be some cars in your area to test drive. If you're in a very rural area you might have some difficulty, but there ended up being plenty in my area and they weren't too hard to find.

I did have to go to a dealership about 30 miles away to get my car though. Most of the ones in my area were very beat up (high-risk accident area).

good luck!

As far as finding 5spd's, you might not be able to find exactly the one you want as far as color and equipment combinations go. You might have to make some sacrifices. I wanted one that was fully loaded (which I got), but couldn't find the color combo I wanted. I wanted Grey/Silver with darker interior but got a Black ext / Tan int one.

Black is okay - dirty cars don't bother me too much :p

But trust me, a few small little sacrifices in equipment or color are MORE than worth it for the 5spd if that's what you want. I'm so much happier driving a 5spd now - my last car was auto and I sorta regret it. But not anymore! :D

The larger dealers should have a used car locator service like they do with new cars. If you are set on the five speed this may be a good bet.

I just bought my max a month ago searching through AutoTrader.com CarBuyersMarket.com Cars.com and the newspaper. Finally found one that matched my exact description (99 SE-L, Lakeshore Blue, Fully Loaded, and 5 Speed) and got a good deal for it as well. All I can say is don't rush it, it took me 3 months to find my baby.

AutoTrader.com in my opinion was the best of the bunch. There's my 2 cents.

its going to be tuff to find the car. It took me about 1 year to find a 4th gen SE with low miles andthe pakage i wanted. unfortunately it was an automagic.dont worry though, im gonna change to a 5-sp, that is if i can find a vsld...yo mtrai, where you get yours?
oh yeah the car i ended up with was a 98 SE, with all the works. it had 50,000 miles on it and i got it for 13,000.

Nobody else has said it so i will, try E-Bay, i know bying a car over the internet requires lots of caution, but a lot of people on ebay are pretty trustworthy...

I saw like 3 5 spd Maximas on ebay...
