Hey guys im gonna try and convert a 92 si with a blown motor into a rear wheel drive drag car.
anybody got any ideas for engine, trans, or anything u guys can think of?
i was thinking V8 as long as i have to redo everything anyways but i was also thinking something like a 300zx motor or any datsun inline 6.
did anybody try this before and if u did if u could share the pros and cons.
i know its gonna cost alot but i and going to be working on it over the next few years
im going to school for auto technology and cad engineering so i should be able to make any custom part i need.

all i gotta say is, hope you have a LOT of money..and a lot of time---i saw an integra once converted with RWD, (forgot what motor) but it was using a CRV drivetrain, some food for thought

you could just fabricate a frame and then make a fiberglass body / cover... but then it wouldn't be a prelude anymore - it would be a drag car with a painted on prelude. also - you would need to make a hump in the floor for the driveshaft - etc.... there is no room for it unless you do that. if you do, though.... chevy 302.... (this should start an interesting conversation...)

thx for the pics SiGNAL748
i was thinking about just bulding a cage in the front just eliminating the fender wells too. this is definately gonna be a project.
kkiepvvessau it will wok its just gonna take time and patience me and my friends are doing all the work so i dont think its gonna be all that expensive. just metal, engine and drivetrain, and new suspension front and back, and lots of time. im going to school for this so even if i dosent work im still gonna learn alot and have fun doing it.
and i am buying a 240 after i finish the show prelude it goes in for bodykits and rust fix soon. (im working to much now to do myself and im in a club so its really cheap).
thanx for all the replies its gonna be awhile till its done but ill keep ya posted
