I blew my 98 gs eclipse tranny and the mitsu dealership says itll cost me 2000 for a rebuilt tranny including labor. Does this sound right to u guys?!?. Should i just buy a gst engine and get a swap (not at the dealership)? Or should i just get the job done.
Also, my engine is stock, nothing done to it and it has 89000 miles. Any advice will be good.

you better specify a little more.....is the $2000 for the parts and labor to re-build the tranny....or is it to take the tranny out, re-build it, and put it back in - if that's the case then i'd say it's about right, a tranny replacement isn't an easy task.

it would be too much work cause its tilted 180 dagrees . It would probably cost you like 7k or something it would be about the same as buying a used GST or GSX

and if you love your RS too much to give it up you can keep it as a drive from point A to point B. And take that 7k GSX or T you bought with a shitty paint job and go for speed with it.

Dont bother quoting money figures for the 4g63 swap, no one knows what it will cost until you try to have it done. That 7k figure was more than likely jsut pulled out of someones ass... ;)
