Hi all,
I'm on here to ask a quick question about my girlfriends' Taurus that can only be answered by other Taurus drivers. Aside from the huge amount of problems we have already had with this car that should be reliable and relatively problem free (56K miles), it rides like absolute crap.
Problems include, by the way: starter, radio cuts out, windows falling off track, pieces of suspension BREAKING, alternator, transmission at 20K, the list goes on.....believe me)
The alignment is constantly giving us problems, but the main problem I have is that when you go over a bump it sounds like the thing is falling apart. I've actually had two suspension pieces BREAK IN HALF (sway bar links) and Ford wouldn't replace them under the extended (100K) warranty. What gives with this car? I've honestly never been a Ford fan to begin with, but the car has essentially put the icing on the cake for me.

What was the question you were asking? :)

I like Ford. But I'll admit, they have their good stuff, then they have their bad. In my own humble opinion, I think the Taurus might be one of the worst cars they manufacture. Actually, they might be one of the worst manufactured in the world. There isn't a day that goes by that I would love to run mine into a pole and call it day. Unfortunately, I can't because I can't afford to. All of my money is going into my money pit Ranger.

I don’t know of anyone that has owned a Taurus & Taurus SHO and has not had a long list of problems with it. I realize that you’ll have that with any car, but it seems like the Taurus has a much higher rate for breaking than any other car I’ve ever seen. A Dodge Daytona is out doing my Taurus. Now that’s sad.

I love Ford Trucks however, and I love the sound of their engines modified. I believe a Ford will destroy a Chevy any day. Hopefully my project truck (2.9L V6) will smash Chevy to the dirt.

I don’t know what to expect from it, but I know it will be a lot better than driving my Taurus.

Yes, my 97 Taurus is also an adventure... Always something new happening. Mostly electrical problems with the occasional rough idling, power steering even a fuel pump problem. I truly must enjoy pain and suffering to keep trying to fix this Ford POS vehicle. I will eventually have to donate the car because people have gotten wise and recognize crap when they see it. For me.. it has been a hard lesson.

My main issue here was with the suspension...we've had major problems and i was just wondering if anybody else had..

I'm starting to wish I hadn't bought mine now, hearing all you talk about yours. So far I mostly have problems with my fuel guage, but I'm sure new things will pop up.
