A probably stupid question

Now dont laugh at me im not very mech savy. I have the opportunity to buy a perfect mint condition 1970 chevelle 454 ss for ten k, and I plan to do so deffinetly. But I want to know is can you put a turbo charger in any car?? Everytime I see a site talking about turbo chargers there for a certain type of vehicle. I just moved to vegas, havent met anybody so I basically have money to blow. Also Id like to put some big ass blower on it fo da ladies, so I dont really care how functional it is any suggestions on which one looks the coolest??

I got to wonder...why the hell would u put a turbo on such a wonderful car already? According to the book i have in my lap you could have either 360,390, or 450 hp and already 500 ft/lb torque in that big block, personally i wouldn't turbo that for anything

If i was to do anything to it, i would put a few minor modifications to the engine, then headers, cutouts, dual flowmasters, then if it is and automatic, put a hurst slam shifter on the floor. But then that is just what I would do

yeah, negative on the turbo, if you insist on forced induction, go with the street charger. I dont know if you can fit one under a stock cowl, but if it will, i would go for that. Nothing better than the wine of a super charger. I but a pete jackson gear drive timing system on my sb and love the sound. :iceslolan

Sounds like your more into looks than performance. Depending on your choices, you may have to cut the hood, or get a large induction hood. If any modifcations to the hood were needed, I would remove the og hood, and buy a reproduction hood if you had to make cuts in it. The sky is the limit on what you can do with the engine. But if you get carried away you may find yourself having to buy other parts to keep up with that engine (tranny, rear end, fuel type, drive shaft). They do make some nice sounding blowers that will totally fit under the hood. If ur in Vegas, gas is almost 3 bucks a gallon. Driving from gas station to gas station can be interesting. But I know at In/Out burger on tropicana/freeway, hot rods meet from all over on a certain night. Goodluck.

ok most turbo chargers are made for fuel injected applications
but you could get a big block supercharger for like 3-4k wit everything but the carbs but I would serious not do it as that car is already about as sick and bad ass as it can be

thoose ss chevelles make mad horse power and are worth so much more wit the restoration type feature on them then one wit a supercharger on it and in my opion a supercharger on a big block ss car is so moronic and is the biggest waste of like another four grand which could completely buy you a clean malibu wit a small block that you could do a bitchen supercharger set up on

You need a big blower for da ladies? you know what they say if that's what it takes to get da ladies. That type of extension shouldn't be sticking out the hood of a Chevelle! I think you are asking the wrong guys with this thread. :nono:

I am not sayin a blower on a chevelle isnt cool and it doesnt get the ladies I am just sayin dont do it on a true SS. if you're gonna do it put it on a small block malibu or somethin
