Any chance of a model of the 2005 Ford GT?

Normally I wouldn't have any interest in American cars, but the upcoming Ford GT in 2005 is so damned beautiful. I think it even looks better than the Ferrari Modena.

I have the Fujimi version of the 1966 Le Mans Ford GT40 but wonder if any model manufacturer will likely be releasing the 2005 version Ford GT.

Check out Ford website for the photos of this beautiful super-car.

I would imagine Revell would it.

In that case, I would hope it is in 1/24 scale instead of 1/25! :uhoh:

odds are Revell's gonna do it, and it'll be 1:25 scale, most kits made in the US are 1:25 scale, The Tamiya builds I have on my shelf look outa scale compared to the rest and i'd rather it be 1:25 scale, They have the 05 Mustang coming out

Revell will be announcing new kits in a couple weeks, lets hope we see it on that list

If it's revell, it will be 1/25 since praticly only revell germany make 1/24 (and I don't see why RG would do an american car)

Revell might do the car, but one problem is that there's really only one version to do...they really prefer doing models that can be sold in several different configurations. If their number-crunchers think a kit of it will sell, they'll offer it. I'm sure it's high on their list of possibilities. It would be a very fun kit to build.

Well there's always the "Wheels of Fire" snap version with flame stickers, the GT Lowrider with reverse-offset 13" wire wheels, GT "Tuner series" with a full decal sheet of gaudy graphics and a "California Wheels" version with 24" DUBs. Hey, it can be done!

But seriously, whoever makes it better not make it curbside. Revell's pulled off some good "one version" kits such as the Lightning so I've got faith in them. Whether the bean counters think it'll sell enough or not is a different question.

THe Lightning kit was actually modifyed from the normal F-150 kit, THe one with the 8 foot bed, or was that one modified into the rare F-150 Harley kit.

Revell's done some really good single mold kits, but Revell likes to get there best bang for a buck out of a tool, and I'm sure Revell's thinking of the Shelby Series 1 kit which did'nt exactly fly off the shelfs, but they have the Viper SRT-10 kit coming out soon, that only one version of that could be abtained so maybe Revell will put some bucks into a GT-50 kit

I agree. When the mood strikes them Revell can get pretty wild with tooling cars up. Remember that run of concept car kits they tooled in the early 90's? In a two year period we had kits of the Oldmobile Aerotech, Corvette Indy, and Pontiac Banshee! They're sitting very pretty right now because the tuner series kits are selling incredibly well (heck, from what I've heard from the folks who run my local hobby shop they've sold two Revell Eclipses for every one RC/AMT Eclipse. Not bad record for a kit that's only been out a little over a month) and so they can afford to splurge a little on new tooling.

A GT could very well be in the cards at Revell, and those guys might be getting ready to blindside us with something even cooler. After all, they sold a bunch of those C5-R kits and they've sold a ton of those Modenas and Enzos. :naughty:

I am used to 1/24. Oh well, sometimes one man's meat is another man's poison, or so the saying goes.

Ok, I've just emailed Tamiya Customer Service via their website as a "Product Suggestion" about the 2005 Ford GT. It's the best I could do. :naughty:

actually, i gignt really look closely, but when i was browsing arround at the lhs, i think i saw a Fujimi version of it. Not the best model probably, because its fujimi, but at least its a start...

Actually they're very nice kits.

BUT...it's a kit of the original car from the 60's. The new Ford GT may look similar, but it's much larger and is all-new, all the details are unique. A quick glance they might seem identical to the untrained eye, but they are quite different.

The fujumi kit you saw was of the Le Mans GT40, not the 2005 GT

Yeah, actually I have the 1/24 Fujimi version because it resembles the new version very closely. That is the 1966 Le Mans version. And the 2005 Ford GT looked very close to the 1966 one because it is a sort of a commemoration of it. But the new one is longer and have a sleeker looking rear. I would say that it is the 1966 version "perfected" in the 2005 release.

See for yourself the 1966 version at HLJ:
