k thanks, cause my uncles think its possible but i just wanted to make sure, cause if i do a change to my engine they dont really have alot of time to help me do it, so they wouldnt want to take out the engine cause they usually repair other peoples cars...

hey Diablo you can change the cam with the engine in the car... you will need to remove the radiator and ac/trans cooler if its an auto... i have done this a few times... i have one concern for you though, how many mile are on the car you are swapping cams in??? be sure to check the front cam bearing because a number of us lt1 guys have run into problems with high miles after a cam swap with having the cam bearing spin... the front bearing is always the one that does it so I would def. look at it very well and if you are putting a very large cam in change all the cam bearings... if you have any other questions about it fill free to ask... Todd

what about the bearings?
if the bearings look discolored or have markings replace them... the front bearing will more than likely brown/black colored...

it will not let you copy past the link but go under the Engines & Components section, Bearings & Bearing Spacers, then Clevite Camshaft Bearing Sets

You may want to think about the impala head gaskets, they are thinner to prove more compression...

so what cam you going with???
also look into getting you car tuned for the new cam... Madz28.com or PCMforLess.com both do a great job for mail order tunes... If your OBD1 and have the cable and a laptop/desktop that is outside he can email you the file to upload...

going with edelbrock heads and cam, rksport.com 1.6 compression rockers, and im not fully sure on headers but i want some long tubes with ceramic coating for under $500.
p.s. will the impala lt1 head gaskets fit? and where can i get em for how much $?
