Hello,
I just wanted to post a follow up message indirectly to some post I have seen saying that " BMWs do not use a timing belt at all but a timing chain " this is not true.
You have to check on your exact BMW with a place like www.bavauto.com (http://www.bavauto.com/) or other such BMW after markey supply house but
my 1986 BMW 528e uses a timing BELT. I know I worked with the Tech. installing it together on the car then I drove to Montreal and if it needed a chain and I used a belt I would be in a world of ......well you the know stuff ick..(GRIN).
Here is link that shows the belts and kits for replacing them to help others. http://www2.autopartsauthority.com/parts/autopartsauthority/wizard.jsp?year=1986&make=BM&model=528-E-001&category=A&&part=Timing+Belt
