well I had posted this yesterday and still got no answer hopefully I will get some today. I don't think it's that hard of a question ( I just don't know the answer) All I need to know is what kind of belt I need to order when I take my ac out and if need a belt at all.
this is what I wrote in the previous post hopefully you all can help me out....
I got a 96 civic ex and I am removing the ac becasue I am going to be installing a turbo. Well I already took out the radiator thing for the ac (not sure what it's called). Anyways I need to take out the compressor now. My question is when I take it out can I just replace the belt with one from a non ac civic or do I not need a belt at all. If I do need to put a belt on (wich I think I do) could somebody tell me what belt to order for I am guessing just one for a civic of the same model just no ac in it..

Sorry im not ganna be much help here, but i can tell you im almost positive you could just order a belt for the same year and model just without the ac. When you call in to order it try asking the guy or whoever picks up and im sure they would know. Your going to need a belt but im not totally sure you can get one off a same model/year civic without the ac. just ask the guy you talk to order it from if its useable on your car and tell him what your ganna be doing with it for suggestions and whatever. But thats just what i would do. I would think a non ac. same year/model belt would fit a car that used to be with ac. but without it...man im confuzing haha just ask the guy at the parts shop you call and im sure he can help you. Good luck with that.

man all you have to do is look at your belts. the one on the ac compressor, does it run anything else? if it is then yes you need a smaller belt. if not then no. how hard is that? im almost positive that belt is only for the ac and you wont need another one but just take a look and im positive you can figure it out.

wait...hes talking about the serpintine belt that turns the underdrive pullies and all that jazz right? If you take off the belt and the AC pully dealy wouldn't you need to get a tighter fitting belt so you can wrap it around all the other pullies except for the one where the AC was and such...? Thats the way its on my truck maybe its different with inline 4's...just wondering.

I have the same engine. Edman24 is right. Pull the belt off, or just pull out your trusty knife and cut it off. Its probly worn out anyway. I just bought a new one, and it was only 12 bucks. My time is worth more than 12 bucks, so I just cut mine off.
You might take the idler/belt tensioner off to. You wont need it, and its easy to remove. (as long as you have small hands....lol)

no, you dont need a new belt. the ac belt is completely separate from everything else. what kinda of setup are you gonna be running? turbo, fuel management, kit/custom? im just interested

Well I am going to be basicaly running a t3 turbo I got all the parts I need (fmu, msdbtm igniton manifold and the other stuff) So far all I have done is put the fmu in and replace the fuel pump to a bigger one. I need to get a adapter plate for the turbo to fit the manifold and I also got a little oil problem that I need to get fixed first so I don't know when I am ever going to get this thing put on. Hopefully soon....

much. ya know you're gonna want more though. 6 is only keeping up with the swaps for a fraction of the price. 10 is when you own them. lol for 6psi though your fpr is ok. not the best but cheap(er) and it works. good luck with it whenever you get it on

Yeah I would like to run more psi but I have been told 6 is about all it can handle with stock internals, I am also hoping for a swap some day. Would have rather had a swap because my car is a daily drive but I got the complete turbo setup now so I might as well use it. I tried selling so that I could buy the swap instead but the a$$hole that had bought it on ebay never payed me so I guess it's going on....
