Looking for a Fiero

I live in North Carolina (about an hour out of charlotte) and im searching for a Fiero. Im looking for a GT 86-88. Id prefer the black with the silver along with the GT rims...but any color would work. Im 16 so if any one can estimate how bad the insurance will be on this...it would be appreciated!

Because you're 16 the insurance companies will rape you no matter what, but Fiero rates are not bad compared to a lot of cars - My 86 Blazer 4cyl 4wd cost more to insure then my Fiero 2m4. The best source for a Fiero (or any car) with specific options is eBay, as long as you're willing to travel out of state you should find what you're looking for somewhere on the east coast. :)

well currently i drive my dads Chrystler Sebring Convertible. Im guessing insurance for that is higher than a Fiero. Heres the catch with Ebay. My dad doesnt really know im looking at these cars. Im not sure he would be willing to drive out to another state with me to get one and even then id rather have it delivered on a truck to save miliage. Why im intrested in this car is because i really like the looks of it and they are affordable for just about anyone. Its pretty unique too....although my first day of actually looking for one i found one in the parking lot of my local community college.

well im 17 with a 87 fiero gt and my insurance is only $125 and that was because i had a wreck in my other fiero (he hit me, but still went up) but at first i was paying 80 bucks for my 86 se v6...until i fixed the 87 =) ...as for looking for one...you could use autotrader.com...there you can put in how many miles you are willing to tavel...maybe cars.com...i dont know...

hm..ok. The insurance on the car i drive now is 90 a month. Ive had one wreck but it was his fault (rearended  ). I havent checked cars.com yet. I checked the autotrader and didnt really find anything. I dont really have the cash ATM but im beginning to talk to my dad about it.

HOLY CRAP! How is your insurance less than $100 a month WITH a wreck!? Im ganna be 18 sept. 12 and i pay $180 a month for my 89 C1500 truck WITHOUT an accident! I HATE insurance companies. Just cuz its a V8 they jack the shit up like mad. My truck is slower than my dads civic, and most other cars. I have been able to keep up with Ford Probes and the occasional older cars, but its pretty slow...Im thinking of choping off meh MAN PART just so i can pay half of what I am now. :grinno: Not like I even use it that often anymore since gf dumped meh lol. Im just sickend by the whole insurance "system" I pay an extra $90 a month just to have a dick...Equal rights my ass!

Well its not really MADE for off roading but i do it anyways haha. I got it for a grand from my uncle its pretty sweet. Daily driver for me, getting gas just makes me sick but i love the girl so its worth it. Who needs a gf to spend money on when your truck drinks more than you do?

There is some logic there... the truck is twice the size and weight of a Fiero, and in an accident will do WAY more damage then a Fiero would. That makes you a higher liability. Plus we haven't really talked about coverage. If your truck has liability, collision and comp, you're getting a sweet deal. If it's just liability, it may be time to go find that cocky ass little gecko and rough him up a bit. :)
BTW Mac - I was once told that the Sebring convertible is a miserable money sucking badly engineered pile of s*it. The funny part? The guy that told me that was a Certified Chrysler 5-star Technitian. A new car might just be a good idea.

i belive your correct. Since ive started driving it (about 4-5 months ago.) ive needed
A. A new Top plus glass (about 1000$$)
B. Power Trunk button doesnt work anymore
C. Air Temp. Knob broke off (fixed with model glue :icon16: )
D. New Motor for top (doesnt come up anymore...havent gotten an estimate on cost for it..)
E. Some of the lights on my air condition consle dont work without hitting the thing.
F. Rear "dome light" (its actually on the back of the center consle.) Finally started working after about 5 years, i just kept hitting it till it worked.
G. Carpet may need to be replaced (car leaked badly without the new top and soaked the drivers side numerous times)
like i said the main reason i want a new car is so i own it and not my father.

Yeah the truck is under my moms insurance but in my name. It's cheepest that way, and its still $180 a month for the lowest coverage. Just liability or whatever it is called. PLUS thats with being on the B honor roll...im ready to friggin take that gecko and eat him.

The #1 problem with Sebrings, I'm told, is wiring problems. Sounds like you've proven that true!!! I almost bought a brand new 04 until I found out what junk they were. Well, that and my wife would have killed me for spending $35,000 and not telling her first. You should have seen the look on her face when I showed her the brand 'spankin new ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR fully loaded 2005 Saab 9-3 Convertible. She loved it before she saw the price tag. After that it was all downhill. I tried reasoning with her, hell it was less then 25% of the price of the individually numbered limited edition 2002 Ferrari 550 Barchetta I'm dying to own, but you know wives- they just can't understand the value of a fine European automobile.
Hey eatmydust - ask your parents if I can be on their insurance too.

Hey kid Im 19 and i Have a fiero for sale... for your insurance ? most likely it would cost about 120 bucks a month for liability thats what it costed me with 2 accidents on my record... But My fiero is a project in progressit WAS black with the silver but i painted it blue with whit trim it looks good. i have a fresh 2.8 in it bored .030 over, cast ported heads, cut crank, new rods, forged pistons, moly rings, comp ratio 10:1, stainless valves, higher tension springs, 1.52 ratio rocker arms, msd igniton, spitfire wires, high volume oil pump, CUSTOM POLY MOTOR MOUNTS... The thing is just built to move all it needs is a turbo with some stainless headers and ul run somewhere about 10 or 11's Im askin 4000 for it firm only 300 miles on motor and trans painted last year with sound system.

You painted your transmission...? And you would need quite the INSANE turbo to get into the TENS with just that stuff, like one off a jet plane...lol.

Lol @ painted tranny. At least he didn't put NOS Stickers, a 6" exhaust tip, and an aluma-wing on it.
Hey mac, nice boat - do you go waterskiing with that? If someone replaced a convertible top for me and it did that I'd beat them sensless then make 'em do it over.

Fiero insurance isnt bad. Im in NJ who has the highest insurance rates in the country and i pay $1,200 a year which is cheap compared to some of my friends (like $2,500 for a 91 sentra). I have a factory blue 87 GT that i bought when i was 16 (im 18 now)
