Electrical Glitch???

I have a 1995 Suburban. Today the airbag light began flashing, the battery light came on and it would not shift out of first gear. Drove home in 1st gear. Any ideas. I think it is an electrical problem.

I would first check the electrical system...might have a low voltage concern caused by a bad alternator
