968 turbo conversion

Wassup guys, I was hoping someone might be able to help me out, I'm thinking about turbocharging my 968, cause it feels a bit slow after owning a stock 98 Impreza Turbo. Been in touch with John Anderson, who's been very helpful, he sent me a list of parts i need for a light pressure turbo conversion using a K26 turbo. The issues I need answered are if I need to lower the compression and if so can i just dish out the pistons? Do I need an intercooler and if so how do I sort one out without paying Powerhaus $2000 for one? Also I live in the middle of the desert and the temp reaches around 48 degrees Celcius in the summer so i'm a little concerned if the car will run ok in the heat. One more think does anyone know where to source 993 turbo brake calipers from?

just get a 951 intercooler from a recycling yard-I paid $150 for 1 that I used on my pals VW GTI worked great

I'm not sure how it would all work out for, and of course, I wish you the best of luck... Check with speedforceracing.com. They have a supercharging kit that is much lower in price than the turbocharging kits that I have seen. They also sell a front mount intercooler. I don't know the cost, but it would be worth a look. Hope that helps.... You can also check 9M racing. That's a UK company that helped speed force get their kit together. If you come up with anything good, keep us posted. I can't think of any of us 968 guys who doesn't want more juice to the wheels.

I wouldnt use a K26 on a 968. Why go that small with that nice big 3.0L? Id go 60-1 that way you have lots of mid-range and high rpm pull without the boost fall off at higher RPMs liek teh K26 and the 3.0L is big enought motor that it wouldnt lag like crazy.
