Front of engine just below the rubber air cleaner connection, round about 2 inches in dia. Two bolts, 10mm socket, unplug wires and remove. Push back center pintle and blow out carbon, may fix it.

check her for a picture of the EGR valve.
You will have to remove the complete air filter assembly and remove the electrical connector to the IAT just under where the hose connects to the engine.

i just pulled my EGR. some carbon was in it. the only thing i removed was the intake tubeing and with the truck off i put a big rock on the gas all of the way down. this gives you more room. i used a 10mm wench and socket. never touched the intake body. the EGR slide between the alt and tension pully. you don't even need to pull the belt. when i had mine off i did the EGR mod and put it back on. just remember to remove the rock before starting. i didn't and shut the egine off at 4,000 rpms. good luck. took about a hour to take off and a hour to put back on. if u want the EGR mod specs i still have them. it does not make the SES light come on. it works very well.

Do you have any proof of this EGR mod doing actually anything for good?
Better gas mileage?
Better 1/4 mile times?
Does your engine ping and detonate now?

it's supposed to get better mpg. about 2.hesitation is almost completly gone. it doesn't ping or anything like that. it runs like it would woth out it but the performace is better. pulls up a hill better. never ran it in the 1/4 mile yet. but i will. the other things i have is. Glasspack exhuast,ITG racing cone filter and the EGR mod. no engine problems.

When you run your truck hooter, detonation does occur even if you can't hear it and the knock sensors retard the timing which raises fuel consumption.
No sense installing it, your knock sensors will alter the engine anyways.

what would happen if i disconnected the knock sensors? besides maybe a SES light?

Your knock sensors are crucial for proper computer timing and the engine will litterally run like crap and defulat to ultra rich condiiton.

is there any way to test to see if it's being retarded by the knock sensor?
